TMS Investigates: Who Pooped in Vinnie Vincent's Tub?
November 16, 2018 | Comments (0) | by Governor X
Earlier this year, mad with power and Apple Music, I
listened to the entire KISS catalog. I’d
always liked a few songs, but never bothered to listen to the bulk of their
music, but with easy access, it was finally time. This delighted fellow TMS bartender Chaim
Witz, a lifetime member of the KISS Army, who assigned me Vinnie Vincent’s Ankh
Warrior as my KISS character. Little did
he know that when I unveiled my KISS album rankings, the Vinnie Vincent era
would be near the top of the list (perhaps a bit too high upon further review,
but that’s another story).
Maybe you know the bizarre story of post-KISS Vinnie or
maybe you don’t. Rolling Stone had a
pretty thorough article on it here, but the TLDR version is he moved to Tennessee, became a recluse, kept dead
dogs in storage bins, and periodically scammed some fans. The most shocking development was yet to come
though. As first reported by @KISSman onTwitter, someone had pooped in Vinnie’s tub:
What
kind of a monster would do such a thing?
My first thought was fellow TMS bartender Jake the Terrible Cubs Fan, a
known KISS hater and all around reprobate, but he assured me that since it
would involve entering the state of Tennessee, it wasn’t him. It made sense. I had to investigate though. This aggression would not stand. Vinnie himself is apparently so terrified he
only recently reemerged and now lives in permanent disguise as Ann Wilson from Heart.
Since the poop in
question occurred in Tennessee, I first reached out to my good friend Dolly
Parton, who also happens to be the biggest gossip in the state. Dolly and I go back years and now that Kenny
Rogers is dead, I’m one of only three living people that have seen her without
a wig. She said she wasn’t aware of the
offending turd, but suggested I get my butt over to Tennessee if I wanted any
answers: “Governor X, you won’t know a
lick of a spit on a tick or some other southernism about this if’in you don’t
head down there and investigate.”
My god.
Tennessee. A wasteland of wannabe
country singers and people in ugly orange hats.
What choice did I have though? No
one else was going to investigate this.
Certainly not the liberal media!
I headed off to the airport and caught the first flight to Nashville,
which inexplicably involved changing planes in Quebec City. Fucking airlines.
I hit the ground as a pilgrim in an unholy land, rented a
car, and drove out to Smyrna, the scene of the crime. The Vinnie Vincent Estate isn’t easy to find,
but the locals were no help. Every
inquiry devolved into a tale of colorful local history. Eventually I found it on my own. You could almost hear the guitar riffs of
Lick It Up as the wind blew through the abandoned home, which was now populated
only by raccoons.
I finally made it to the bathroom. Jesus.
There it is. The turd. It was still there! I collapsed into a heap on the ground and
tried to compose myself. Who? What?
Why? The questions raced through
my head. Damn it man, you’ve got to
focus here. What would your favorite
unnamed Scandinavian detective do? I
shook it off and focused. Using some
things I “borrowed” from a buddy in my local sheriff’s department, I carefully
took a sample in a crime scene bag.
What now though?
Surely there wasn’t a police department south of Chicago that could
actually run tests on this for me. Plan
B it was then. I got back in my car and
headed to the nearest diner. I’d just go
table to table confronting them with the turd until I got answers.
I burst in and said, “NOW LISTEN UP YOU
HAYSEEDS, I WANT SOME ANSWERS.” First, a
woman with poofy hair eating with her two grown sons.
“What do you have to say for yourself? Is this your doing?”
Silence from all three.
I see how it is. On to the next
table.
“You there, Hee Haw, did you shit in the tub?”
Son, I don’t rightly know
what you’re gettin’ on about here.
This is going to take a while. I went from table to table, waving the poop
sample bag in front of them as they ate, but it was just one stonewall after
another. Finally the man in the NRA hat
had some answers.
“Did you sh-…” He cut me off.
Soros.
“What?”
Soros. The billionaire banker. Things like this are always linked to George
Soros. Look it up. You might need to
look around though, ‘they’ [he makes air quotes] don’t want you to know. Trust me.
Three days and eight layovers later, I landed in Budapest. Naturally, I was immediately accosted by
gypsy pickpockets – sorry, Roma
pickpockets. I don’t want to offend
anyone! Anyway, after defending my
belongings, I hail a cab and tell the cabbie to take me straight to Soros’ lair.
As it turns out, Soros’ Dracula-style mountain lair is
actually a tasteful home near the city center.
I rang the bell, expecting to be whisked away by his jackbooted goons,
but instead a kindly old man answers the door.
May I help you?
“Thank goodness you instinctively knew to speak
English. Are you George Soros?”
Yes, what can I do for
you?
“AH HA! J’accuse! Is
this your handiwork?”
I whip out the bag of poop, knowing I’ve nailed it.
I think you’d better
come inside. We should talk.
I step inside. As
usual, Soros was ten steps ahead. No
plans for world domination sitting on the coffee table or secret weapons
systems. Just pictures of the grandchildren
an unopened mail. Who does he think he’s
fooling? We sit down and he offers
tea. I assume it’s poisoned, but I don’t
want to be rude and drink anyway. It’s
chamomile. Gross! I just come out with it.
“Why did you shit in Vinnie Vincent’s tub?”
Well, you wouldn’t
know it to look at me, but I used to rock.
Back in the 80s, before getting into the world domination game, I
dabbled in a bit of hair metal myself.
Played the bass. I was good
too! Anyway, when I heard Vinnie was
working on a side project, I thought this was my big chance. I flew to Los Angeles and auditioned to play
bass in the Vinnie Vincent Invasion. I
nailed it too, as much as you can nail a bass line. When it was done, he thanked me for coming in
and said I’d hear from him. I never
did. After years of waiting, I vowed revenge. I would settle this score by sowing discord
and toppling regimes throughout the world.
I’d also poop in his tub one day.
Then, about 6 years ago, my people on the ground told me he had gone out
to buy new dead dog tubs and now was the time to strike. So I went, I pooped in the tub, and I
left. I regret nothing.
“You know what Mr. Soros. That all makes sense. That seems like a perfectly reasonable
reaction to not getting a gig in a band.
Well, thank you for the tea and the kind chat. I’ll be off.”
And that’s that.
Turns out you kind of deserved this Vinnie.

A Completely Arbitrary Ranking of the Trumps
November 17, 2016 | Comments (59) | by Governor X
I've tried really hard to keep politics away from TMS, lest we turn into the next Deadgawkerspin, but god damn it, we have a new first family coming in and everyone likes rankings. So here, have a completely arbitrary ranking of the Trumps. Sorry Ivana - current Trumps only!
1) Barron - He's 10, likes to wear suits, and as we all know, is good with The Cyber. Such talent. Wow. He also rides lions. Do you? Yeah, I thought not. Also, by virtue of being the youngest Trump, he has committed the fewest crimes against humanity. BTW, is that lion in blackface? Jesus...
2) Melania - So what if she's a plagiarist. So what if her discount Bucharest boob job made her nipples point at the sky. People assure me she's classy. Also, have a fucking heart. Donald is long overdue to trade her in on a newer model. She'll be shipped back to the Soviet Block in her original packaging and he'll bring in the latest grunting tennis prodigy from Belarus.
3) Tiffany - Oh Tiffany. As far as I understand, you're basically Courtney Love born into money. That's got to be a blast.
4) Donald - So yeah, the country may not survive this and your favorite kabob guy is about to get shipped off to a "facility" in rural Nevada, but wow, what a showman! I get all the doom and gloom, but objectively speaking, it takes a great deal of talent for a rich guy from Manhattan with a solid gold bidet to get Billy Bob out in Sweatfork, WV to go all in. Also, I am continually impressed by his ability to buy $20,000 suits that make him look like works the new account desk at your local bank. He's #4 because of the pure spectacle - also, his adult children are even worse.
5) Ivanka - Statistically speaking, at least 1 out of every 2 people you meet is able to recognize Donald is a con man. Inexplicably, people haven't yet figured out Ivanka is every bit as bad. Somehow they just order her cheap bracelets off of QVC and never quite figure out they've been had. Is it because she's good looking? If so, you've got some work to do feminists. Put down the Lena Dunham sex doll and get on that.
6) Eric - Eric and his brother Donald Jr are big game hunters, so it goes without saying they are awful people. Eric is what I imagine Patrick Bateman would be like as a vampire.
7) Donald Jr - Just regular Patrick Bateman, without the vampire charm.

So About Tonight...

God, it's been such a long wait. Can you remember what you were doing? Were you even born?
Of course you were. Game 7 was June 19th. Are you an infant? If so, go back to bed. Stupid babies.
Tonight is BALL NIGHT as the 2016-2017 NBA season is finally upon us. To celebrate, the NBA released their team "hashflags," which for those of you over the age of 20 are hashtags that will prompt a fun little graphic. These are, unfortunately, terrible;

#TakeNote? #ItTakesEverything? Are these seriously the best the league office could come up with? And what the fuck is #MFFL? Marketing 101: if you have to ask what this is, you fail.
As usual, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. "DIY" as Swanny used to say (RIP Swanny, he died like he lived: whittling shirtless). Here are the new and improved TMS NBA Team Hashflags for 2016-2017. These suck too, but damn it, I did it with love:
TMS Late Night: A Very Special Message from Bud Norris About Home Security
July 26, 2016 | Comments (0) | by Governor X
Braves, well fuck, I mean Dodgers pitcher Bud Norris (aka Nud Borris) loves him some lettuce. It's all he talks about. Ask the Atlanta beat writers. They'll tell you. You could ask the Dodgers beat writers too, but that would only encourage them so please don't. You'll probably remember his Top 5 Types of Eatin' Lettuce piece earlier this year. Bud recently contacted us and let us know he had an important message for our readers about home security. As you can tell, we're struggling for content so here you go:
Hello Norris Nation, Bud here. I was watchin' that Republicans convention last week and I started to worry about home invasion. Seems Isis and Osiris are everywhere. I ain't gonna be robbed by no Egyptians, so I looked into home security systems. It didn't take me long to find the best one for me:
HEAD OF ICEBERG LETTUCE - but it´s a safe!
OMFG yes. Look at this glorious thing. It's so realistic I almost wanted to munch on my 'puter screen.
From the description:
Place this realistic head of Iceberg Lettuce in your refrigerator in the vegetable compartment with your most valuable small items inside for safe-keeping.
The bottom snaps off to reveal a secret hiding place. The ideal way to protect cash, jewelry and other valuables while at home or traveling.
Thieves will never dream of looking in this book for valuables, now that you have the opportunity to buy this unique protection of your valuables.
It's so true. At only $99 a piece, I ordered a pallet of them. When I put them in my iceberg lettuce fridge, you can't even tell which head of lettuce I keep my wedding ring in! Right now there's a wait list, but that's because I ordered another pallet. I make way more money than I have any business making, so I'm going to hide my money in iceberg lettuce too. I might even try eating one. I bet it can bump Romaine out of my Top 5.
This just goes to show you that iceberg lettuce can do anything. Stay safe gang. Bud out.

TMS Late Night: Update - So Far, So Good Game of Thrones
June 13, 2016 | Comments (1) | by Governor X
Back in April, I posted my top 5 GOT characters we haven't heard from in a while. So far so good!
5. That Guy Who Couldn't Die - Just saw him this week. Looks like he still can't die.
4. Edmure Tully - Alive and semi-well. He has a baby he's never seen, which is by far the best kind of baby.
3. Daario Naharis - You see GOT reddit, this was a joke. Are you familiar with the concept? They did a really poor job recasting him, so it was almost like Daario went away and was replaced by his distant cousin Waario. Anyway, we actually haven't heard from Daario in a couple weeks now, which is for the best since he's one of my "Top 5 Game of Thrones Characters That Should Go Away For A While."
2. Robert Baratheon’s Bastard (one of them anyway) - STILL MISSING
1. Rickon - Ramsay's new toy. Now he won't be able to father a child to carry on the Stark name either!

WHERE ARE YOU?
So You Don't Have To: Arby's Gyro
June 08, 2016 | Comments (4) | by Governor X
Earlier this week, Jake the Terrible Cubs Fan requested that someone in the TMS crew eat an Arby's Gyro. Never one to back down from an "eat this weird thing" food challenge (seriously Ben, I will get to your pizza request), I stepped up to the plate. I thought I was prepared for this, but I forgot it was Arby's. Those sons of bitches always have a SHOCKING TWIST up their sleeve.
I figure the easiest way to do this is to do this is to take their own description of the gyro and just go through point by point:
Nothing says “I am an adventurous eater and interesting person” like eating a gyro at Arby’s. Our classic thinly sliced roast beef is topped with lettuce, onions and tomatoes, cool creamy tzatziki sauce, and authentic Greek seasonings all hugged by a warm pita.
Way to set the bar high Arby's. It's like I'm already in Athens, only with less fascism, smog, and crippling unemployment. Before I begin though, I feel obligated to let you know there was a guy with a Make America Great Again hat eating there...because of course there was. Let's go!
Nothing says “I am an adventurous eater and interesting person” like eating a gyro at Arby’s.
I do consider myself an adventurous eater in that I'll try pretty much any food I find at least once, but this is a god damn Arby's. There's only one of them in every shitty town on the interstate in this country. That doesn't require a lot of adventure. As far as being interesting, well probably at one point maybe I was but I'm in my mid thirties now and just marching towards my inevitable doom like the rest of you slobs. To prove it, I just had lunch at Arby's.
Our classic thinly sliced roast beef...
Well yes. This certainly is Arby's thinly sliced roast beef on a gyro. If you're one of those "no red meat" people (eyeroll), they have a turkey option for you! AUTHENTICITY
...is topped with lettuce, onions and tomatoes...
Shredded iceberg lettuce to entice Bud Norris, raw red onions because those are always a hit, and the same never quite ripe slices of tomatoes you've come to expect from a fast food sandwich.
...cool creamy tzatziki sauce...
Alright. Let's linger here for a minute. Like with any food, there are varying degrees of quality to tzatziki sauce. Some are well seasoned and perfectly compliment the sandwich, while others taste like someone put mayo and cucumber in a blender. This is neither. It exists somewhere on its own plane. There isn't much of it on the sandwich, which is for the best because it's runny like my poop is sure to be after this digests and tastes like they may have just watered down some ranch dressing they had on hand.
...and authentic Greek seasonings...
Authentic Greek seasonings = a light dusting of some parsley and salt mixture.
...all hugged by a warm pita.
I think we can all agree hugged is a weird verb choice there. We've all experienced one and I don't think any of us thought of pita bread. As far as the quality of the pita, this particular Arby's used to be a Taco Bell and the pita bread may just be leftover gordita bread they found when they moved in.
How does it all come together? Strangely. The "tzatziki" and pita bread combine to somehow make the sandwich taste like it has cheese on it even though there isn't any. So imagine how unpleasant and weird a gyro with cheese might taste and then remember there is no actual cheese on it. The roast beef as gyro meat was just lumped on there in the same half-assed way they lump it on their regular sandwiches and every bit as unsatisfying. By the end, I was contemplating dousing the thing in Arby's Sauce so I could get to the end, but I powered through. I don't ever want to eat this thing again and I will curse Jake the Terrible Cubs Fan for the rest of my life.
Final Grade: F

War Criminal Update: Shia LaBeouf Still At Large
May 27, 2016 | Comments (0) | by Governor X
Back in 2007, this guy named Shia LaBeouf came on my radar. As you can see, I instinctively knew he was a terrible human being, guilty of multiple war crimes.
Holy shit did I underestimate how bad he was.
When I wrote that 9 years ago, LaBeouf was a mere Idi Amin. Since then he's turned into a full blown Josef Stalin, brutalizing the world with his "art."
He came up again because he's decided to hitchhike across America as some sort of performance art/pogrom. It might be sort of clever I guess had John Waters not done the exact same thing just last year.
What else has he been up to since we last checked in? Here's a sampling:
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - I'm an apologist for this movie and will argue until the day I die it's better than the now virtually unwatchable Temple of Doom, but man, he makes that a tough sell. The low point of Indiana Jones is when he swings on vines with some monkeys. I don't even remember why. I just see owls now.
Whatever the fuck this is.
He wore a bag to the Berlin Film Festival. Seriously. Look at that fucking thing.
He sat in a theater for six days, for you know, art or something, and let people come see him. One lady molested him. Good for her.
He paid for #StopCreating and #StartCreating skywriting over LA - because if there's one thing LA needs it's more shit in the air. Maybe next time he can create a traffic jam.
BTW, those last three things may all have been plagiarized to some degree.
We need to stay vigilant people. How can a criminal like this walk free for years? Even Roman Polanski has to hide out in Europe and all he did was drug a teenage girl and...uh, well never mind that I guess. Anyway, we all need to do as the state security apparatus suggests and say something if we see something. Did you see Nymphomaniac? Call DHS. Immediately. If you're a spoiled Hollywood douche canoe, you can even call it art!

TMS Team Preview: The 2016 San Francisco Giants
April 25, 2016 | Comments (0) | by Governor X
Over the coming weeks, Thunder Matt's Saloon will have previews of all 30 MLB teams. We're starting at the bottom and working our way up based on the current Vegas odds for winning the 2016 World Series. More or less anyway. It's nearly May and no one cares.
Still? Yep. Still. We're so close to the end though... It's the Giants.
2015 Finish: 84-78, 2nd in the NL West
So Long: Middle Class Residents, Affordable Housing
Welcome: Silicon Valley Assholes on company buses, even more hobos, Johnny Cueto
Projected Lineup:
1. Dirty Harry, CF
2. Fog, 2B
3. The Golden Gate Bridge, 1B
4. Gay People, C
5. The Car Chase From Bullitt, SS
6. Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, LF
7. Overrated Burritos, 3B
8. Rice-A-Roni, RF
9. Big Trouble in Little China, P
Nickname Rotation: San Fran, Frisco, The City by the Bay, The City (eyeroll), Peestenchburg
Setup: Internal Affairs was setting them up all along!
Closer: Kyra Sedgwick
Something something even year. Buster Posey and so on. Is Tim Lincecum still high? Yes.
Reason to Watch: The X-Files is now in HD on Netflix. That's a good reason to watch. The makeup on the episode where they age fast on the boat is a little rough, but generally it looks pretty good.
Reason to Drink: You can drink on Caltrain going to the game, which means you should. Nothing quite like arriving at the park with a solid buzz going.
The Food: The crab sandwich in the outfield is the best ballpark food I've ever had. Frankly it's my #1 sandwich ever. Unfortunately they are small and like $16, so the cheapskate in me only allows the purchase of one. I'd gladly eat like 10 of these.
Greasiest Player: The Giants love them some greaseballs, but it comes down to Angel Pagan and Brandon Crawford, and really it's no contest. Brandon Crawford's hair has more oil in it than the Alberta Tar Sands. They should build a pipeline to his house.
Fantasy Standout: I dunno, Brandon Belt?
Fantasy Bust: I dunno, Brandon Belt?
The Pop Culture Equivalent To This Team Is: Greasy Brandon Belt eating a crab sandwich while drunk on Caltrain heading home to watch The X-Files on Netflix.

None of these people are Brandon Belt.
TMS Late Night: Top 5 Game of Thrones Characters We Haven't Heard From In A While
April 23, 2016 | Comments (3) | by Governor X
Game of Thrones is back! Prepare yourself for all the hot takes every time something horrible happens. "OMG, how could they be so insensitive to rape victims/animals/short people/land use planning/religion???? (continues to watch the show for five years)" I love the show, but one of its major issues continues to be the fact that seemingly important characters tend to vanish without a trace. Here are my Top 5 characters we haven't heard from in a while:
5. That guy who couldn’t die – Do you remember that guy who couldn’t die? There was that guy in a cave and he couldn’t die. He scared The Hound with fire.
4. Edmure Tully - He married the only non-homely Frey girl and was luckily whisked away before the Red Wedding, but that was that. Are they happy? Do they have kids? Does he drive a Dodge Stratus now?
3. Daario Naharis – Whatever happened to that long haired Fabio looking asshole? What, he turned into this guy? Seriously? I guess those casting agent certifications don't mean much do they...
2. Robert Baratheon’s Bastard (one of them anyway) – He got some of that sweet Melisandre action and it only cost him a little blood, but then Davos put him in a boat and we never saw him again. Given that so much of the plot revolves around who is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, we have to see him again at some point right? Hey, his name was Gendry. I forgot until just now.
1. Rickon Stark – Assuming that fall left Bran impotent, Rickon is the only male Stark capable of carrying on the line. Sure he’s a bit of a weenie, but these are desperate times. Last we saw him, he had run off with Tonks from Harry Potter. When he's old enough, he should get on that. A half-Stark/half-wildling would unite "The North."

Yeah. You totally forgot about me didn't you?
