Some will remember Thursday, September 24, 2026 as the day that Pete Crow Armstrong became only the 7th player in baseball history to join the illustrious 40/40 Club. But ultimately, that monumental event will forever be overshadowed in Cubs lore by sideline reporter Taylor McGregor's ill timed resignation, henceforth known as The Day Boog's Boner Died.
You see, Jon "Boog" Sciambi, Cubs television play-by-play man and noted ginger, always seemed to have a school boy crush on the lovely Ms. McGregor. The sexual tension was palpable, albeit one sided, much like that time Billy Murray filled in for Harry Caray and you could hear Steve Stone breathing heavily and moaning for the duration of the broadcast.
With Boog, there was a certain yearning in his voice that spoke to a man who knew he coveted something that he could never have. He even tried putting extra product in his hair this year to make it more spiky, hoping she'd notice, to no avail.
And now she is gone, and Boog is left wondering, "Did I do too much? Or not enough?" and "Why did I insist on calling myself Boog?"
Some questions are best left unanswered...
